Thomas Johnston (b. 2004) is an Australian-born multi-instrumentalist and composer. Thomas composes all kinds of works of varying styles and genres for different chamber ensembles, jazz bands, wind ensembles, and orchestral ensembles. He currently is studying music composition and jazz studies at Bowling Green State University. His teachers include Dr. Christopher Dietz and Aidan Plank.
Thomas's mission as a composer and musician is to ultimately make the listener feel something. This is usually the goal of any musician but Thomas's approach to musical storytelling is unique. He often writes pieces about topics we as humans all share. Whether it be death, relationships ending, world events, or other things, his goal with his music is to have the listener walk away having been moved by his music.
